Your human hair wig is a huge investment so it’s important that you take care of it to keep it in top condition. Most units come factory coloured to a pale yellow blonde, they are then custom coloured so go through a huge amount of processing. Because of this they require a lot of care and salon professional products to keep them in good condition.

We advise that you wash your wig every 2-4 weeks depending on how often you wear it. Before washing it’s important to detangle your wig from root to tip. It is best to do this whilst wearing your unit or on a mannequin head. Before placing on a mannequin head use your fingers just to run through to start to detangle. Then once placed on the head, starting from the bottom gently brush using the brush provided being extremely gently and holding at the roots as not to pull. Do this in small sections, if you come to a knot be sure not to pull but instead use your fingers to gently pull apart. For the lace part you must be extremely gentle. The hair is hand tied into the lace and any pulling will cause the hairs to untie and shed, because of this I recommend using a wide tooth comb and again being extreme gentle. Once the wig has been brushed you can now begin to wash. It is best to do this under running water using a shower or mixer tap, ensuring the water is luke warm and never hot. Start by placing your hand inside the unit and gently running the water through starting from the top of the wig to the ends. Once completely wet apply a small amount of shampoo to your free hand and gently run through the wig, use small circular motions at the root and then run through to the ends using your fingers. Rinse then repeat this step being extremely gentle. Once rinsed well gentle squeeze out water and pat dry with a towel to take out excess water, do not rub hair. Apply a deep moisturising conditioning mask leaving around 2 inches from the root. wrap in clingfilm and then in a towel and leave in a warm place for upto 24 hours. After the given time rinse with luke warm water and apply conditioner. Apply conditioner again being extremely careful to avoid the root area especially around the lace as this will loosen the knots. Using a wide tooth comb distribute throughout and leave wrapped in a towel for 10mins. Rinse well using cool water. Once rinsed gentle squeeze the excess water and pat dry with a towel, do not rub. Then using a wide tooth comb gently comb the wig from root to tip. You can also use a Leave-In Conditioner at this stage.

I always recommend that you part dry your wig and then where possible let dry naturally. The best way to do this is to use a hair dryer and gently placing the unit on a towel start by drying the inside cap on a medium setting. Ensuring that the cap and wefts are 50% dry. Then place the wig on a mannequin head and using the same setting dry the root area again till it’s dry and then gently comb through the wig using your fingers or a paddle brush. Once the wig is around 50% dry you can let air dry, this will help preserve the unit whilst using the least amount of heat. Be sure to always use a heat protector before using any type of heat, if using an oil serum you can apply a little extra once dry and seal using straighteners.

As your wig is human hair you can use heat to style. We do recommend styling your unit where possible using the least amount of heat. It is also important to try not to keep the heat on the hair for long periods of time, ie always moving the hairdryer and straighteners through the hair. It is also essential to use a good quality heat protector. Apply before blow drying and then again before using curlers or straighteners. Try not to use heat more than 2 times per week.

We strongly recommend removing your unit before sleeping as friction from your pillow case will damage the hair over time and cause it to loose moisture and dry out. If you do wear your unit for longer periods of time and prefer not to remove before bed we recommend you purchase a silk bonnet which will help prolong the life of your unit.

Once you receive your unit you may require it to be cut to suit your head shape. As the unit is cut on a mannequin it may look slightly different when placed on your head.
